EUTAWVILLE -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested on a weapons charge after Friday’s shooting that left a double-murder suspect dead.

Henry James Clark of Dorchester Ave., Orangeburg, died Friday after being shot outside Eutawville.

The 32-year-old Clark was out on bond while awaiting trial in connection with 2007’s fatal shooting of two men in Cross.

Clark was also charged with first-degree burglary in connection with that case. Berkeley County authorities have said they believe the 2007 incident was drug-related.

Also, Clark was sentenced to 10 years in prison for armed robbery in 1996.

Orangeburg County authorities believe Clark died as a result of an altercation that happened Friday around 4 p.m. He was shot outside town limits and driven to town hall where a crowd congregated while the shooting was investigated.

Napier Harris of 325 Gable Drive, Eutawville, has been charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in connection with the case. He went before Orangeburg County Magistrate Don West on Saturday, where his bond was set at $10,000 surety.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams said the case is still under investigation.

First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe said county investigators called him Saturday morning to discuss charges against Harris.

“I’m confident the Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter,” Pascoe said.

" How does someone who is a double murder suspect get out on bond? Sympathy to his family but looks like this man was a career criminal. "
