OCFAC announces summer classes

The Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center has scheduled several weeks of art classes for students in first through eighth grades.

These classes are made possible through the sponsorship of Time Warner Cable:

  • June 8-12 -- Pottery Face Mugs with Angela Sandifer and African-American Folk Art Painting with Helen Stewart. 10 a.m. to noon for first through fourth grades and fifth through eighth grades. Class limited to 12 students in each age group. $30 for members or $35 for non-members.
  • June 22-26 and July 13-17 -- Learn to Sew with Jean Hawks. Minimum age is 9 years. 10 a.m. to noon. Class limited to six students. Sewing machine required; limited supplies needed. $30 for members or $35 for non-members.
  • July 20-24 -- Acrylic Painting with Angela Sandifer and Line Dancing with Laura Snipes and the Orangeburg Line Dancers. 10 a.m. to noon for first through fourth grades and fifth through eighth grades. Class limited to 12 students in each age group. $30 for members or $35 for non-members.


Additionally, classes are also being offered for guitar and yoga. Details are as follows:

  • June 16-July 2 -- Learn to Play Guitar with Jeff Harris. Two sessions, 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Six group lessons. $60.
  • June 16-July 2 -- Adult Yoga with Jeff Harris. Noon-1 p.m. Six sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays. $30, or $5 per session.
