A tax workshop for small business owners or prospective small business owners is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Carolina State University’s Belcher Hall, Room 354.

The workshop is designed to provide information and instruction about business taxes, tax benefits, and obligations connected with starting a business as well as tax responsibilities for new employers.

Other topics to be discussed include tax record-keeping and tax-filing deadlines.

The morning portion of the workshop will cover federal tax requirements. The afternoon session will cover state tax and employment security obligations.

The Internal Revenue Service is sponsoring the workshop along with a number of co-sponsors.

“This workshop is a public service for those who have small businesses or may be thinking about going into business,” said Mark Hanson, IRS spokesperson.

To register for the workshop or to get more information, call 803-536-8445.
