Diandra Sondreater Hill-iard of Santee, S.C. and Roberto Dewayne Smith of Union, S.C., were united in marriage at 5:00 p.m. on May 2, 2009, at Buck Ridge Plantation in Neeses, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hilliard of Santee. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Mattie Bell Fersner of Orangeburg, S.C., the late Mrs. Eliza Hilliard of Orangeburg and the late Mr. Hollis Hilliard, Sr., of Santee.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Barbara Smith and Mr. Larry Smith of Union. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melrose (Etta) Smith, the late Mr. Benjamin Smith and Mrs. Eva Mae Smith, all of Union.

Officiating the ceremony was James L. Tillotson.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Kalin Halls of Orangeburg, friend of the bride.

Matron of honor was Sandra Wigfall of Santee, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Tourville Lodge at Buck Ridge Plantation.

Mrs. Smith is a Senior Early Childhood Education major, at South Carolina State University and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Mr. Smith is a 2007 graduate of Wingate University in Wingate, N.C., with a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Administration.
