Elliott - Wingard
Sunday, June 21, 2009Elizabeth Ellen Elliott of St. Matthews, S.C. and Ryan Mathias Wingard of Lexington, S.C., were united in marriage on June 20, 2009, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in St. Matthews.
The bride is the daughter Mr. and Mrs. David Marion Elliott of St. Matthews. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Violet McDowell Whetstone of St. Matthews and the late Mr. Charles William Whetstone and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kennedy Elliott of Mullins, S.C.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathias Wingard, Jr., of Lexington. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathias Wingard, Sr., of Lexington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy Abner Moore of Lexington.
Officiating the ceremony was Reverend Patti Mayfield.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
Maid of honor was Margaret Jane Elliott, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Katherine Rebecca Fairey, Elizabeth Michelle Floyd, Karen Wingard Hughes, Kate Elizabeth Whetstone, Katie Gressette Wilson and Beth Blackburn Wingard.
Father of the groom served as best man.
Groomsmen were Otha Kip Dillihay, II, Adam Andrew Hitt, Stuart Chesley Mathews, Robert Rhett Sansbury, III, Charles William Whetstone, III and Keith Kirkland Wingard.
Flower girls were Miss Gabriella Clark Hughes and Miss McClendon Christian Hughes, nieces of the groom.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Buckridge Plantation in Orangeburg, S.C.
After a wedding trip to Antigua, the couple will reside in Lexington.
Mrs. Wingard is a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health at the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Wingard is a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Business Management and earned his J.D. at the Charleston School of Law. He is currently employed at the law firm of Nicholson, Davis, Frawley, Anderson and Ayer, LLC in Lexington.
