Bowman man stabbed at club

A Bowman man was treated at the hospital Wednesday night after being stabbed twice in the back at a Charleston Highway nightclub, according to an OCSO incident report.

The 28-year-old Bowman man was treated and released.

Deputies were sent to the 40/40 Club around 9:40 p.m. after getting a call about a possible stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found a man being held down by two others who said they witnessed the incident.

The witnesses said a 28-year-old Bowman man was on his way to the Regional Medical Center to be treated for stab wounds.

The two men claimed the man they were holding stabbed the victim in the back twice, the report said.

Deputies said the suspect appeared to either be drunk or under the influence of narcotics. He was detained until a call to the hospital confirmed a man had been taken in for treatment.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital after complaining of having trouble swallowing and pain from several bruises to the head.

While physicians were working with him, they discovered he had at least nine bags of what looked like marijuana under his clothes, according to the report.

The 25-year-old Bowman man was changed with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to OCSO spokesman Thomas Brown.

In other reports:

* A Willington Drive woman called deputies Wednesday after discovering a considerable sum of cash stolen.

The woman said she left her residence for several hours and when she returned, she discovered a door was unlocked. The woman said she had left the door locked. Inside the home, the woman realized $4,000 was missing.

* A North Carolina woman said her identity was used to set up an account for a cell phone in Orangeburg County, according to an OCSO incident report.

The woman said she was notified by Verizon that she was behind on her payments by $2,200 for her cell phone. The woman said she didn’t have a cell phone in Orangeburg County.

* A Cordova man on Monday reported his trailer was stolen from his yard.

The man said around 9:30 a.m., he noticed his black trailer with two ramps on the back missing. The man said his name is engraved on the trailer, which is valued at $1,500.

* A Cope man called deputies Sunday after discovering his lawn tools were missing.

The man said he was missing a Craftsman push mower, Craftsman riding lawn mower, a miter saw and a welder.

The tools are valued at about $1,930.

* Police are looking for a vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit and run early Wednesday.

Around 1:38 a.m., an alert went out from the sheriff’s office about a cream-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser that fled the scene of a car collision, according to an ODPS incident report.

An ODPS officer spotted a vehicle matching that description traveling on Stonewall Jackson Boulevard. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped away.

The vehicle sped out of the city onto Cannon Bridge Road and then onto Cordova Road, where it swerved onto several side streets.

The license plate number was called back to dispatch and the pursuit was ended.
