Alford - Ponds
Sunday, July 05, 2009Sara Elizabeth Alford and Benjamin Calhoun Ponds, both of Rock Hill, S.C., were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Lowrys, S.C.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Scottie) Alford of Chapin, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Alford of Lexington, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Russ Mellette of Lexington.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Lynn) Ponds of Lodge, S.C. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ponds of Islandton, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Felkel of Elloree, S.C.
Rev. Jeff Ferguson officiated the ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Maid of honor was Samantha Hughes of Rock Hill, friend of bride.
Bridesmaids were Michelle Eveillard of Atlanta, GA, friend of bride and Sarah Gillette of Rock Hill, friend of bride.
The groom’s father served as best man.
Groomsmen were Kenneth Manos of Columbia, S.C., friend of groom and Michael Williams of Lodge, friend of groom.
Ushers were Joseph Ponds of Lodge, brother of groom and Jeremiah Alford of Chapin, S.C., brother of bride.
Pianists were Josh Wall and Avianna Rishebarger, both of Rock Hill, friends of the bride.
Guest book attendant was Elizabeth Parker of Rock Hill, friend of the bride.
Parking attendants were Chris Fox of Rock Hill; Joe McNamee of Rock Hill and Kevin Gardner of Columbia, friends of groom.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Lowrys School Community Center.
After a wedding trip to the mountains of N.C. the couple will reside in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Ponds is a senior at Winthrop University majoring in Music Education. She is currently employed as a music teacher at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill and with HobbyLobby in Rock Hill.
Mr. Ponds is a 2008 graduate of Winthrop University with BS in Business Administration/Accounting. He is currently enrolled in the Resident Assistantship Master’s Program at Winthrop and employed with Jeff Harris & Associates.
