Patin joins S.C. State women’s basketball staff

Ralph Patin III has been named an assistant coach with the South Carolina State women’s basketball program. Patin, who was named to the position on July 1, replaces Antonio O. Davis, who accepted a similar position at North Carolina Central University.

Patin joins the S.C. State staff after serving four seasons as head coach at Spartanburg Methodist

College (SMC) in Spartanburg. While at SMC he compiled an overall record of 77-45 and 42-14 in region play. During his tenure, his teams competed in three Region X Championship and won the 2008 Region title. He has produced three First Team All-Region players, an NJCAA All-American, as well as the 2008 Region X Player of the Year.

Prior to being named head coach at SMC, Patin coached the varsity girl’s basketball team at Ridge View High School in Columbia. Before that, he coached at C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy and worked with several AAU organizations,
