The M.A. Lee Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 to provide academic scholarships to first-year college students in difficult financial circumstances. Named for its founder, the M.A. Lee Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization. Each year, the foundation hosts a gala celebration raising funds from ticket sales and donations from individuals and small businesses. It is the goal of the foundation to foster education by helping those in need of assistance with college expenses, thereby strengthening the community.
Joining Rucker as featured entertainment for the gala will be another familiar face from the works of Perry, actor-singer Terrell Carter. Carter is known for his roles in "Tyler Perry's What's Done In The Dark" and "Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns" plays, and the movies "Tyler Perry's Diary Of A Mad Black Woman" and "Tyler Perry's Madea's Class Reunion."
