Santee church site of Saturday youth summit
Thursday, August 06, 2009SANTEE -- Low Country Healthy Start, the USC Claflin Center of Excellence, Greater Friendship AME Church and the Department of Health and Environmental Control Region 5 office will join forces to present a Community Youth Summit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Greater Friendship AME Church in Santee.
The event will feature food, motivational speakers and spiritual entertainment. Topics including education, career planning, health and self-esteem will be covered. Speakers will include Virginia Berry White from LCHS; Gerald Wright, associate superintendent of Orangeburg Consolidated School District 3; Patricia Funderburk from the Regional Medical Center; Elaine Zimmermon from the One-Stop WIA program; and representatives from the USC Claflin Center of Excellence.
Greater Friendship AME Church is at 3669 Tee Vee Road in Santee, across from Lake Marion High School.
