Police want to question man about lottery tickets
By RICHARD WALKER, T&D Staff Writer Saturday, August 08, 2009North officials want to question a man in connection with stolen lottery tickets that have turned up at an area business.
North Police Chief Mark Fallaw said a handful of lottery tickets taken during a smash-and-grab at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store last month were presented recently at a North Road convenience store.
Fallaw said investigators would like to speak with the man whose image was captured at the convenience store, describing him only a person of interest.
The tickets were taken on the night of July 17 when someone smashed a window at the store and gained entry.
In other news, North investigators are working with county, state and nearby Swansea police after a 1999 Bobcat skid steer loader and its trailer were stolen from a business on Aug. 1.
The North man who owns the Bobcat said it weighs more than 5,800 pounds. He told police it was the vehicle’s weight that had deterred any attempted theft in the past, according to a police report.
The $8,500 machine is described as being white with orange trim.
The trailer for the Bobcat had an inoperable tongue jack, which rendered it necessary to use a forklift to raise the trailer for mounting to a vehicle, the man said.
If anyone has any information on these or other crimes, they are asked to contact North police at 803-247-5801 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIMESC.
