Tammie Metts and Edwin Addison Smoak, both of Orangeburg, S.C., were united in marriage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Maggie Valley Wedding Chapel in Maggie Valley, N.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. John S. Metts of Orangeburg and Mrs. Mike (Helen) Murphy of Orangeburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. F.L. Metts, Sr. and the late Mrs. Adair V. Metts; the late Mr. John B. Hughes and the late Mrs. Estelle H. Shuler, all of Orangeburg.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy B. (Susan) Smoak of Orangeburg. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. (Betty Rae) Smoak; the late Mr. Rollie A. Huffstetler, Jr. and the late Ms. Mary H. Slaughter, all of Orangeburg.

Rev. Jerry Parks officiated the ceremony.

A reception was held at Camp Anderson in Orangeburg.

Following a wedding trip to Sturgis, S.D., the couple resides in Orangeburg.

Mrs. Smoak is a 2003 graduate of Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College with an Associates degree in Nursing and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is currently employed as an Occupational Health Nurse with Albemarle Corporation.

Mr. Smoak is a 2001 graduate of Ferrum College with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He is currently co-owner of Nottoc Farms.
