South Carolina linebacker up for Bednarik Award
Friday, August 14, 2009COLUMBIA — South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood is on the Chuck Bednarik (bed-NAIR’-ihk) Award’s watch list.
Norwood was among 55 players revealed Thursday. The award goes to the country’s most outstanding defensive player.
Norwood, a 6-foot-1, 253-pound senior, was an all-Southeastern Conference first-team pick in 2008 after finishing with 75 tackles and nine sacks. He is South Carolina’s alltime leader with 43 tackles for loss.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik award will be announced on Nov. 4. That list will be cut to three finalists on Nov. 23 with the winner announced in December.
