Funderburk - Brooks

Virginia West Funderburk and George Robert Brooks, Jr., both of Columbia, S.C., proudly announce their engagement.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Kathryn T. Funderburk of Orangeburg, S.C. and the late Dr. Marshall Stewart Funderburk, Jr. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thornhill and Mrs. Marshall Stewart Funderburk, Sr., of Cheraw, S.C. and the late Mr. Marshall Stewart Funderburk.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Robert Brooks, Sr., of Orangeburg. He is the grandson of Mrs. James W. Collier, Jr., of Orangeburg and the late Mr. James W. Collier, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Edward Brooks, Sr.

Miss Funderburk is a graduate of Wingate University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a graduate of Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Therapy. She recently completed music therapy internship working within the psychiatric department at Palmetto Health Baptist in Columbia, S.C. She is currently employed for both music and recreational therapy at Palmetto Health Baptist in Columbia.

Mr. Brooks is a graduate of Midlands Technical College in Columbia with an Associates degree. He is currently employed at Architrave, an architectural firm in Columbia.

The wedding is planned in Orangeburg on October 24, 2009, at the home of the bride-elect’s mother.
