Elizabeth Paige Salley of Charleston, S.C. and Marcus O’Ryan Newton of Columbia, S.C., were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th, 2009, at Second Presbyterian Church, in Charleston.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Marion Salley of Orangeburg, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Newton Hughes and the late Mr. Hughes and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decatur Salley, all of Orangeburg.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Daniel Bishop of Clinton, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Marcus Newton of Taylors, S.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Orin David Davis of Clinton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Robert Newton of Marlboro County, S.C.

Officiating the ceremony was The Reverend Cress Darwin.

Maid of honor was Joelle Ashley Graziano.

Matron of honor was Mary Porter Shull.

Bridesmaids were Emily Butler Barnes, Margaret Ann Currin, Candice Cohen Kirven and Brooks Wilson Salley.

Honorary attendants were Virginia Bishop Gasque, Chrystal Alexandra Newton and Lana Marlane Newton.

Best man was Randall Louis Friedberg.

Groomsmen were Dennis Marc Brewer, Steven Taylor Cloud, Kevin Wray Humphries, William Anderson Nelms and Ronald Marion Salley, Jr.

Flower girls were Caroline Porter Kirven, Ashley Camille Kirven and Kathryn Bryant Salley.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Daniel Island Club.

The couple will take a wedding trip to St. Lucia.

Mrs. Newton received a Master of Arts degree in teaching from the University of South Carolina.

Mr. Newton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Clemson University. He is currently employed by Baxter Healthcare.
