 Varsity Volleyball

HHA turns back Generals


HOLLY HILL – Holly Hill dominated their match against region foe Thomas Sumter by defeating the Lady Generals 25-8, 25-13, 25-7.

Emily Watkins led the way with 11 digs, six kills, four aces and a block. Wehme Carolyn Hutto had 11 kills, six digs and five aces. Chelsea Nester finished with nine kills, six digs, three assists and two aces. Sara Shuler tallied five kills, an ace, an assist and a dig. Katlin Rush had 17 assists, six digs and four aces.

HHA (10-1, 4-0) will travel to St. John’s Christian at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Florence Christian edges out OPS

Bruinettes fall to North Augusta


Orangeburg-Wilkinson was defeated by North Augusta 25-15, 25-17.

The Bruinettes (1-4) will host Aiken on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

OPS extends win streak to nine

Orangeburg Prep defeated Robert E. Lee on Monday 25-19, 25-18.

Sami Hooker led the Lady Indians with seven points, an ace and a kill. Tiffany Ferguson added five points, three aces and seven assists. Toni Salsgiver came away with five points, five digs, two kills, an ace and a block.

OPS (9-0) will travel to Heathwood Hall today at 4:30 p.m.

B-Team Volleyball

Lady Indians drop season opener to Robert E. Lee

Orangeburg Prep was defeated by the Lady Cavaliers 25-20, 13-25, 23-25.

Catherine Ann Earley led the Lady Indians with eight points. Karalynn Kuhn also tallied eight points in the loss.

Orangeburg Prep (0-1) will host Howard Middle on Sept. 24.

B-Team Football

Holly Hill-Roberts Middle 28, Timberland Middle 6


ST. STEPHENS – Alex Brown had two touchdowns and 110 yards rushing to lead the Gators to victory.

Trevon Mack had a 40-yard touchdown run and a 2-point conversion. Dontreyvyan Jones had a 67-yard touchdown reception and a 2-point conversion. Darius James was credited with three receptions for 75 yards.

Defensively, Jones and Anderson Owens led the way with seven tackles. Mack, Darius Gailliard and Mark Graham each collected five tackles. Jones also had a blocked punt.

Holly Hill-Roberts (2-0) will travel to Orangeburg to face Clark on Sept. 29.

Howard Middle 12, Scott’s Branch Middle 6

SUMMERTON - Howard Middle School defeated Scott’s Branch Middle School 12-6 on Tuesday.

The Baby Bruins (2-0) will return to action Sept. 29 against Manning Junior High School.
