Kim D. Rivers and John H. McCoy, II, both of Charlotte, N.C., were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at The Edisto Manor, Buck Ridge Plantation, in Neeses, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Vemell Rivers of Charlotte and Mr. Allen Rivers of Orangeburg, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Vindell Hickson of Brooklyn, NY; the late Mr. John Westley Hickson of Manhattan, NY.; the late Mrs. Linda Johnson of Orangeburg; the late Mr. Cecil and the late Mrs. Annie Rivers of Orangeburg.

The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Wilma McCoy of Orangeburg and the late Mr. John H. McCoy of Charleston, S.C. He is the grandson of the late Ms. Dorothy McCoy of Charleston; the late Mr. Willie Davis and the late Ms. Alma Davis of Jersey City, NJ.

Officiating the ceremony was Reverend Julius Steed.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Desiree Mungin of Beaufort, S.C., sister of groom.

Maid of honor was Ms. Gail Rivers of Charlotte, sister of bride.

Bridesmaids were Miss Charmain Allen of Charlotte, niece of bride; Miss Linda Fersner of Charlotte, sister of bride; Mrs. Deborah Jamison-Cooper of Orangeburg, friend of bride and Miss Debbie Rivers of Charlotte, sister of bride.

Junior bridesmaids were Miss Chante Allen of Charlotte, daughter of bride and Miss Tiarra McCoy of Orangeburg, daughter of groom.

Best men were Mr. Thomas Bowman of Orangeburg, friend of groom and Mr. Talmedge Coleman of Columbia, S.C., cousin of groom.

Groomsmen were Mr. Kim Boatwright of Manhattan, cousin of groom; Mr. Terrence Ellis of Brooklyn, cousin of groom; Mr. Willie Jeffries, Jr., of Cameron, S.C., friend of groom; Mr. Jerry Moody of Orangeburg, friend of groom; Mr. Demetrius Preston of Blackville, S.C., cousin of groom; Mr. Patrick Robinson of Temple Hill, MD, friend of groom; Mr. Norman Watts of Orangeburg, friend of groom and Dr. Kevin Williams Spartanburg, S.C., cousin of groom.

Junior groomsmen were Master Orrie Jeffries and Master Satchel Jeffries, both of Orangeburg, God sons of groom.

Ring bearer was Master Zamontre’ Green of Charlotte, nephew of bride.

Flower girls were Little Miss Madison Marcus of Orangeburg, cousin of groom and Little Miss Alana Ricks of Charlotte, niece of bride.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Buck Ridge Plantation.

After a honeymoon trip the couple will reside in Charlotte.

After the ceremony love doves were released in memory of the bride’s brother, the groom’s aunt and the groom’s father.

Consultant and Directress was Connie Shivers. Reception Narrator was Teresa Drakeford.

Photographer was Cecil Williams and Saxophonist was Bob McHal.

Mrs. McCoy is a graduate of Columbia Junior College and Brook Stone Technical College. She is currently employed by Wells Fargo in Charlotte.

Mr. McCoy is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. He is currently employed by SW Financial and Mortgage Group in Charlotte.
