 Orangeburg Touchdown Club to meet today

The Orangeburg Touchdown Club will meet today at the Cinema in the Old Orangeburg Mall.

Orangeburg Prep’s Walker Smith will be honored as the Offensive Player of the Week; Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s Jake Davis will be honored as the Defensive Player of the Week. Furman head coach Bobby Lamb will be the guest speaker. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Claflin Volleyball

Claflin Captures Four Set Win Over Paine


The Pantherettes (10-6, 8-6) avenged an earlier loss to Paine College on Wednesday with a four-set win 25-19, 16-25, 27-25, 25-20, at the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Physical Education Center. The victory helped Claflin stay within striking distance of division leading Albany State, who will visit the Pantherettes on Monday. Paine was led by Victoria Claytor with a game high 19 kills. Janae’ Kearse followed with 10 kills and 13 digs. Marquita Josey helped the offense with 18 assists.

Deisha Rivers and Faith Simmons provided 11 kills each for Claflin. Toi Haynes-Shelman added 10 kills, 38 assists, and 13 digs. Jessica Myles and Tashia Stewart ended the evening with 10 digs each. The Pantherettes will return to action Sunday October 11 at Clark-Atlanta with a 2:00 pm. start.

Varsity Volleyball

Woodland 3, Bethune-Bowman 2


ROWESVILLE - The Lady Mohawks fell to the Lady Wolverines 25-17, 19-25, 15-25, 25-10, 15-6.

Bethune-Bowman was led by Franchesca Hook with 15 points and eight kills. Dejoria Howard had 13 points and six spikes for the Lady Mohawks. Mya Berry finished with eight points and 14 assists in the loss.

Bethune-Bowman (3-9, 0-4) will host Allendale-Fairfax and Calhoun County in a trimatch beginning today at 5:30 p.m. Woodland travels to Cane Bay at 5 p.m. today.

Edisto 3, Barnwell 0

BARNWELL - The Lady Cougars defeated Barnwell 25-11, 25-15, 25-21.

Hailey Carson led the way with 15 points. Anna Salley posted 12 points in the win while Taylor Smoak finished with 11 points.

Earlier in the week, Edisto defeated Pelion 25-6, 25-11, 25-21.

Anna Salley had 15 points against the Panthers. Taylor Smoak and Hailey Carson each had eight points. Edisto (15-0) will travel to Wade Hampton today at 6 p.m.

Branchville 3, Wade Hampton 0

BRANCHVILLE - Branchville knocked off Wade Hampton in straight sets 25-20, 25-20, 25-13.

Branchville was led by Savannah Connor with 11 points, three kills and two aces, India Williams provided 11 points, four aces and four kills. Branchville (13-5) will play at Estill at 5:30 p.m. today.

Orangeburg Prep 3, Laurence Manning 0

MANNING - Orangeburg Prep picked up the win over the Lady Swampcats 25-19, 25-15, 25-16

Kayla Mims led the Lady Indians with 11 kills, four digs and an ace. Haley Bozard posted five kills and two digs. Annie Westlund finished with 25 assists four aces, three digs and two kills. Brandy McRae had seven aces, six kills and five digs. Shiloh Burgreen had five kills, two assists, two digs and two aces.

Orangeburg Prep (14-3, 4-2) will host Heathwood Hall at 5 p.m. today.

Branchville (10-0) will play at Dorchester Academy at 4 p.m. on Monday.
