Writers didn't even know they were being anti-Jewish

I am appalled by the op-ed piece “DeMint watches out for all of us” in Sunday’s Times and Democrat. The piece is written by Edwin O. Merwin Jr. and James S. Ulmer Jr., two leading lights of the area’s Republican Party.

If they are leading lights, they used those lights to shine brightly on their deep-seated anti-Semitism. In fact, it’s so deeply seated that they don’t even know that what they wrote is virulently anti-Semitic.

What happened to civility in the public place? We should be working to bring people closer together, not separating them with vitriolic and inflammatory rhetoric.

— George I. Goldstein, M.D., Lake County, Ill.

You are from the :honest: state of Illinois. Not Bamberg. "
