Orangeburg Lutheran Church will hold a Reformation Sunday communion worship service that will include a concert by the Claflin University Concert Choir at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. Reformation Sunday is a commemorative day in Lutheran churches, as it recognizes Martin Luther's courage and strength in efforts to reform Roman Catholic practices of the 16th century, which evolved in the formation of Protestantism with its insistence that humans are saved solely through God's grace instead of by their own efforts at righteousness. Luther's signature hymn, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," will be sung by the choir in addition to its featured concert. The choir will also participate in the liturgical music of the entire service. The church is at 610 Ellis Ave. in Orangeburg.
