Scales - Ponds
Sunday, November 01, 2009Judy Ann Scales of Sumter, S.C. and Joseph Anthony Ponds of Lodge, S.C., were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Sumter Bible Church in Sumter.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Margaret T. Scales of Sumter and the late Mr. Tom Scales. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.F.M. Scales of Gwinnet, GA and the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnson M. Timmons of Sumter. Honorary grandmother is Mrs. Garris Norris of Columbia, S.C.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony L. Ponds, Lodge. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe J. Ponds, Islandton, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. J. Glenn Felkel of Elloree, S.C.
Officiating the ceremony was Rev. Ellison Evans.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Sam Scales of Sumter.
Maid of honor was Pam Scales of Sumter, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Anna Ponds of Lodge, sister of the groom; Ashleigh Johnson of Sumter, friend of the bride and Rachel Hucks of Orangeburg, S.C., friend of the couple.
The bridegroom’s father served as best man.
Groomsmen were Jacob Eskola of Treadway, TN, friend of the groom; Stephen Evans of Orangeburg, friend of the couple and Steven Reynolds of Ehrhardt, S.C., friend of the couple.
Ushers were Sam Scales of Sumter, brother of the bride and Jeremy Ponds of Columbia, brother of the groom.
Flower girl was Charlotte Ponds of Lodge, niece of the groom. .
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Sumter Christian School gymnasium.
After a Caribbean cruise the couple will reside in West Columbia, S.C.
Mrs. Ponds is a 2007 graduate of Sumter Christian School and is currently a junior at the University of South Carolina majoring in accounting.
Mr. Ponds is a 2007 graduate of Ponds Home School and is currently a freshman at Midlands Technical College majoring in mechanical engineering.
Prior to the ceremony, Sam Scales, brother of the bride, lit a candle in memory of their father.
Pianist was Gayle Johnston and Soloist was Debbie Moore, both of Sumter.
Wedding director was Ellen Hucks of Orangeburg.
Wedding and reception attendants were Kimberley Gainey, Amanda Alvis and Hannah Griffin, all of Sumter.
