S.C. State University chooses 2009 Miss Homecoming
Saturday, November 07, 2009T'Anna Michelle Roberts is South Carolina State University's Miss Homecoming 2009.
"I am honored to have been chosen by the S.C. State football team," Roberts said. "I represent what they represent, which is hard work ethic, dedication and high academic scholastics."
A native of Atlanta, Roberts is a sophomore agribusiness major. She is the daughter of Michael Tyler Sr. and Thelma Roberts.
Influenced by her mother's compassion and endurance to help others, Roberts has devoted countless hours to her community. As a deputy fire marshal community volunteer for the city of East Point Fire Department, she assisted neighbors and other citizens with first aid, blood pressure monitoring, fire prevention and emergency escape plan training. In 2008, Roberts was awarded the Unsung Hero Award for being an outstanding volunteer and community service provider.
At S.C. State, she is a member of the Student Orientation Leadership program. She has also played the saxophone for 11 years and is a member of S.C. State's Marching 101 Band.
After graduating from S.C. State, Roberts plans to attend graduate school to pursue a degree in foreign language. Her future goal is to "dominate" the international trading division.
Prior to attending S.C. State, Roberts was an active member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America, Future Business Leaders of America and National Technical Honor Society.
As a determined and motivated person, Roberts' motto is "our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall."
