The season may be over officially for volleyball teams across the state, but a few T&D region players have picked up postseason honors for their effort during the 2009 campaign.

Edisto’s senior setter/hitter Anna Salley has been selected to play for the 2A/1A South team in the 2009 CAWS All-Star volleyball game Saturday in Greenwood at Lander University.

Salley, who finished the season with 186 assists and 160 service points, led the Lady Cougars as they finished the regular season with a perfect record to earn their second consecutive Region 5-AA title.

Joining Salley on the 2A/1A team will be Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s Gloria Wheeler. Wheeler and the Lady Raiders finished the season in last place in Region 5-A.

Edisto’s Hailey Carson was named to the 2009 CAWS Class AA All-State team. The Lady Cougars’ senior hitter finished the season with 147 service points and 130 kills. Making the Class A team representing Branchville was Kaitlin Felder. Felder led the Lady Yellow Jackets (23-6) to the Lower State final, where they were defeated by Johnsonville.

Holly Hill Academy’s Wehme Carolyn Hutto participated in the SCISA-GISA All-Star Game. The SCISA Region 2-AA Most Valuable Player set career records for kills and digs at HHA with over 1,200 each as a member of the Lady Raiders’ roster.

Kaitlin Rush represented HHA in SCISA’s North-South All-Star game as a member of the South’s Class 2A/1A team. Rush finished the year with Orangeburg Prep, which was well-represented in the SCISA Class AAA All-Star Game. Sallie Covington, Kayla Mims and Annie Westlund were each selected to the South Class AAA team. The trio helped the Lady Indians reach the SCISA state tournament, where they suffered a season-ending loss to Hammond.
