ALLISON, Iowa — Steve Edeker’s heifer, Blink, defied the herd when she calved late this season. She defied the odds when she had triplets when finally giving birth June 14.
The 5-year-old Angus/Herford mix gave birth two bulls and one heifer. The first calf was noticed Sunday and Blink appeared to be ignoring her calf. To encourage the new mother to nurse it, Blink was penned with her calf. The next day another newborn calf was spotted with the herd and also penned with its mother.
